There are so many perks to campus living!

All residents have access to a variety of campus resources that support intellectual growth, healthy lifestyles, and personal safety. Life at UBC Okanagan is truly a home-away-from-home where residents can pursue their academic and personal goals in a safe, comfortable, and fun environment.

Wifi

Student Housing provides internet access through UBC’s wireless internet service, UBC Secure, which is available free for all UBC faculty, staff and students, as well as guests and affiliates. Dining on Campus

Students who live in Cassiar, Valhalla, Nicola, Kalamalka, Purcell, Skeena, Similkameen and Nechako purchase a mandatory meal plan. Those who live in the Cascades and Monashee can choose to purchase an optional meal plan for convenience and extra savings. Meal plan dollars are valid at participating campus food outlets and many off-campus partner locations.

 

Mail & Parcels

All mail addressed to residences is delivered to the Nechako Housing Office, and is available for pick up daily. Find out your mailing address, or learn more about the process of receiving mail and parcels on our FAQ page.

Maintenance Services

Residents can use the Online Service Centre to request maintenance or repairs in their suite. We try to respond to requests within two business days. Requests are triaged based on urgency. If you have any questions or concerns, please connect with the Front Desk rather than submitting duplicate requests.

Safety & Security

UBC is a safe campus. Residents can call Safewalk for an escorted walk home or simply pick up a 24-hour blue phone to connect with UBC Security. There are regular nightly patrols of residence properties and resources to help students prepare for an emergency and prevent crime.

Health

Live well to learn well. UBC students have access to health services located in the University Centre. There are also many online resources available on wellness topics such as alcohol and drug use, stress, depression, and sexual health.

Residence Life

When you live in residence, there’s always something to do and ways to meet people. All residences have common gathering spaces for casual socializing and Residence Advisors who plan activities. UBC is also well known for world-class athletics, guest speakers, and recreation programs. Learn more here.

Front Desk

Front Desk services are located at Nechako Residence. This is the place to ask a question, pay fees, pick up mail, or borrow sports equipment. For hours and location, head here.

Laundry

How convenient! Laundry machines operate on a card system—no need to collect coins. Students buy a card at a cost of $5. Machine locations: Monashee Place, Purcell, and Skeena basements, and each floor at Cassiar, Kalamalka, Nicola, Valhalla, Lower Cascades Building C, and Upper Cascades Building J.

Cycling & Parking

Cycling to class and other activities around campus and the region is convenient and healthy. Bike storage facilities are available at Monashee Place and Purcell, the Residence Bicycle & Sporting Equipment Storage Request form is available online. Limited parking is available for a fee.
